A Review of The Notebook, a 2004 Movie Based on a Novel by Nicholas Sparks
The Notebook is a film that came out in in 2004 and to this day, it is still one of the most successful movies that has been directed.. If you haven’t seen this movie then that is fine. The Notebook is about this poor and passionate man named Noah who falls in love with a girl named Allie. With this famous novel becoming into a film that has been one of the most successful Nicholas Sparks movies, it is clear that I will be analysing this book to many of his other famous novels such as, The Walk To Remember, Dear John, The Longest Ride, etc. With this one novel becoming into a huge hit in the movie theatre’s I will be digging into more of a deep thought on why those other films didn’t do as well as The Notebook. The Notebook is filled with heartfelt moments from the beginning to the very end of the story. This is a story that we fantasize about and wish of living one day with our loved one.
The beginning of the story is important because that is when we find out that Allie has a terrible sickness that has been going on for a few years. This sickness she has is Alzheimer’s dementia, this is an illness of forgetting everything that you once remembered before at a time. In the beginning of the story Noah is all grown up in the nursing home where he lives. He does the same thing every morning, gets his medication and book. Then he proceeds down the halls of the nursing home hearing the nurses mumble underneath their breath to each other about whether today will be a good day or a bad day. When he gets to Allie’s room, he sits down in his chair waiting for her to be done getting ready so he would be able to start reading the book for the hundredth time. When everyone left the room it was time for him to start to read the notebook to her, but the tricky thing is will she remember? The story will go from the present to the past, so with all of the reading we take on many flashbacks of them being together during the summer.
With this film becoming into one of Nicholas Sparks most successful movies there were many questions on why this film was the best one out of all the rest of them. With this film coming out in 2004 people today will still consider this movie to be one of their all-time favorites. If you are not a fan of love or sadness then I suggest that you don’t watch this movie. But with Nicholas Sparks coming out with this film, many reviews I have seen say that this film is romantic and sensational, it is a story that is being told at its best. The Notebook was used in descriptive language, universal themes, and it was a well-developed of one man’s true love and devotion. The film or novel is something that almost anyone could relate to.
